Purple Line First/Last Mile Plan

Client: LA Metro

Location: Los Angeles, CA

HERE conducted first/last mile analysis for stations along the Purple (D Line) Extension Transit Project. HERE oversaw the walk audits and subsequent data point compilation, along with generation of the station pathway networks for seven stations from the VA Hospital in the west, to Wilshire/La Brea in the east. This work follows HERE’s First/Last Mile designs completed for the entire Blue Line, a portion of the Crenshaw/LAX line through Inglewood, three locations in Glendale, and the Expo/Crenshaw station.

HERE crafted a tracking mechanism that inputs all of the data points from the walk audits, the stakeholder conversations, and the various GIS data sets - existing and proposed bus facilities, bike facilities, and collision information - to form the foundation for decision-making on the pathway networks in terms of what improvements are recommended. The goal is to identify improvements that are rooted in community feedback and local planning context. In addition, HERE conceptualized and helped to run a series of creative pop-ups that built upon the lessons learned from the Inglewood and Blue Line First/Last Mile pop-ups.
